What’s included

What you get

Everything in scope, from first workshop to launch.

01Start

Discovery

Understand your goals, users and current systems.

Read more +Show less −

Discovery is where we learn your goals, users, budget and current systems before recommending anything. You get a written goals brief and a review of your existing software and processes, usually within the first week. It makes sure our advice fits your business, not a generic template.

What you get

  • Interviews with owners, key staff and, where useful, customers
  • Review of current systems, code, contracts and costs
  • Written goals brief with problems, priorities and constraints
  • List of risks and quick wins found along the way

How it works

  1. Kick-off call to agree goals, budget and scope
  2. Interview stakeholders and review systems and documents
  3. Write up the goals brief
  4. Review the brief together and confirm priorities

Good to know: Share existing contracts, invoices and system access early, because hidden costs and lock-in often sit there.

02Plan

Tech strategy

The right stack and architecture for your plans.

Read more +Show less −

Tech strategy recommends the stack and architecture that fit your plans, budget and team. You get a clear recommendation with reasons, trade-offs and risks, including whether to build, buy or combine the two. It usually comes together in weeks 2–3, after an honest review of your current systems.

What you get

  • Recommended stack and architecture, with plain-language reasons
  • Build versus buy comparison for the key parts
  • Cloud and security approach suited to your size
  • Risk review of your current code and systems
  • System design diagram of the target setup

How it works

  1. Assess current systems, code and running costs
  2. Compare options against your requirements and total cost
  3. Draft the recommendation and test it with your team
  4. Agree the final direction in writing

Good to know: We recommend off-the-shelf tools when they fit better, because bespoke software is not always the answer.

03Plan

Roadmap

A phased plan with costs and timelines.

Read more +Show less −

A roadmap is a phased plan showing what to build or change, in what order, with budget ranges and timelines. You get it as a written document, usually in week 4, ready to share with your board, investors or team. Phases are sized so you can start small and decide at each stage.

What you get

  • Phased plan with clear goals for each phase
  • Budget ranges and timelines for every phase
  • Dependencies, risks and decision points marked
  • Team setup advice: hire, outsource or a mix
  • Short summary ready for your board or investors

How it works

  1. Turn priorities into phases with clear outcomes
  2. Estimate cost and time ranges for each phase
  3. Review the draft with you and adjust
  4. Agree quarterly check-ins to keep it current

Good to know: Budget ranges become firm figures once each phase has its own discovery and fixed, itemised quote.

04Plan

Vendor review

Independent advice on tools and suppliers.

Read more +Show less −

Vendor review gives you independent advice on software tools and suppliers, compared against your requirements and total cost. You get side-by-side comparisons and a clear recommendation, usually within 1–2 weeks. We can also write RFPs and help you assess supplier proposals.

What you get

  • Requirements list agreed with your team
  • Side-by-side comparison of shortlisted tools or suppliers
  • Total cost view, including licences, set-up and running costs
  • Clear recommendation with the reasons behind it
  • RFP or tender document, if needed

How it works

  1. Agree requirements and must-haves
  2. Shortlist options and gather pricing and demos
  3. Score each option against the requirements
  4. Present the recommendation and answer questions

Good to know: Our advice stays independent, so we recommend the best fit even when that is another supplier.

05Launch

Next steps

Build with us, your team or another partner.

Read more +Show less −

Next steps turns the roadmap into action, whether you build with us, your own team or another partner. You get a clear project brief and a full handover of everything we produced. Quarterly reviews are available to keep the plan on track as things change.

What you get

  • Project brief that any supplier can quote from
  • Handover of all documents, diagrams and findings
  • Fixed, itemised quote if you choose to build with us
  • Delivery support for your team or another vendor
  • Optional quarterly roadmap reviews

How it works

  1. Choose who will deliver the first phase
  2. Turn the roadmap into a detailed brief
  3. Hand over all materials and answer questions
  4. Check in quarterly and update the roadmap

Good to know: Everything we produce is yours, so you are free to take the brief to any supplier.

FAQ

IT consulting questions

What does an IT consultant do?

Reviews your systems and processes, identifies risks and waste, and recommends a practical plan for software, cloud and security, with priorities and costs.

Do you offer a fixed-price audit?

Yes. Our technology audits are fixed-scope and fixed-price, usually 1–3 weeks, ending with a written report and roadmap.

Can you help choose between off-the-shelf and bespoke?

Yes. We compare options against your requirements and total cost, and we recommend off-the-shelf when it is the better fit.

Can you rescue a failing software project?

Yes. We review the code, contracts and plan, then advise whether to stabilise, re-scope or rebuild, and can take over delivery.

Do you act as a fractional CTO?

Yes. We provide part-time technical leadership on a monthly basis, covering roadmaps, hiring, vendor management and architecture decisions.

Who owns the code?

You do. All IP is assigned to you in the contract, and the code, accounts and documentation are yours from the first sprint.
